19-year old Gautami Shankar Launches her First Book ‘Love in the Pink City’ – Published by The Write Place, a Crossword Initiative
19-year old Mumbai teenager, Gautami Shankar launched her first romantic novel called ‘Love in the Pink City’ at Crossword Bookstore, Kemps Corner in Mumbai today. Published by The Write Place, a platform introduced by Crossword to encourage young writers. The unveiling of the romantic novel was in the presence of, veteran Indian actress and renowned celebrity singer, Ila Arun and actor Mohan Kapur who was also present at the event and interacted with the young author and the audience.
Speaking at the event, Chief Guest, Ila Arun said, “Storytelling and writing has always been an integral part of our country’s culture. Rajasthan, especially Jaipur has fascinated many artists because of its larger than life beauty and vibrant culture. It is commendable to see young authors like Gautami writing at such a young age.”
Speaking about her debut novel, Gautami Shankar said, “Since childhood I’ve loved reading and I was always fascinated by Jaipur. One of my aims behind writing this book was to try and encourage young people to inculcate the habit of reading which has been lost in our modern time.”
Today, publishers are taking a keen interest in nurturing young talent and getting their stories out to be read. “It is great to see an author penning her first book at such a young age. We want to support and provide platform for young budding talent like Gautami, and we are thrilled to unveil this book,” said Kinjal Shah, CEO of Crossword Bookstores.
The event concluded with Gautami Shankar’s interaction with the guests. Gautami also revealed that she is already planning her second novel to be announced soon.
